Overview

In August 2024, I completed a week-long work experience placement at Crysp Ltd, a Health and Safety consultancy. During the week, I worked closely with Pete Mills and Sian Purver, assisting with a variety of tasks, from data organization to content creation. The experience helped me learn a lot about how a business operates and gave me insight into marketing strategies, including the Sales Funnel.

Key Contributions

Over the course of the placement, I worked on several key projects:

  • Data Management: I updated spreadsheets with school data, pulling from Ofsted reports to make sure everything was accurate and organized.
  • Social Media Content: I helped design and prepare content for Crysp’s social media to support an event they were hosting the next month.
  • Sales Funnel Learning: I learned how businesses use the sales funnel to attract, engage, and convert leads into customers.
  • Testing and Bug Reporting: I also helped test the company’s website for new features and provided feedback on any bugs I encountered. This experience gave me valuable insight into user experience (UX) and the importance of ensuring a seamless online presence.

These tasks gave me a chance to apply my skills in real-world scenarios, and I got a deeper understanding of how important sales, marketing, and website optimization processes are for business growth.

Skills Developed

I picked up a lot of useful skills during my placement:

  • Attention to Detail: Keeping the data organized and accurate was crucial, so I made sure to double-check everything.
  • Communication: I got better at creating content that matched Crysp’s tone and goals, helping their brand stay consistent.
  • Sales and Marketing Awareness: Understanding the sales funnel opened my eyes to how businesses can grow and keep customers.
  • Time Management: Balancing tasks and deadlines was important, and I got better at managing multiple projects at once.
  • Testing and Bug Reporting: I developed an understanding of how to identify and report bugs effectively, which contributed to improving the user experience on the company website.

Recognition

At the end of the week, Crysp Ltd gave me a Certificate of Work Experience to acknowledge my contributions and the work I completed.

Reflections

The placement gave me a better idea of how businesses operate, especially when it comes to managing data and engaging customers through social media. I found the mix of tasks really rewarding, from the data work to creating content, and I was fascinated by how the sales funnel helps businesses grow by attracting and retaining customers. Additionally, the experience of testing and finding bugs in the site opened my eyes to the importance of a smooth, user-friendly digital presence.

Moving Forward

This experience has definitely pushed me to think about diving deeper into data analysis, technology, and marketing. I’m looking forward to using what I learned at Crysp to build my skills in these areas and pursue future roles where I can use both my technical and creative abilities.
